The benefits of AI, without giving away your data

AI can take hours out of the working week and a good deal of friction out of home life. We are expert in it: which tools are worth using, how to set them up, and exactly where your information goes when you use them. We bring AI into your life or business with strict privacy and data protection in place from the first day.

01The approach

Useful AI starts with knowing where your data goes

Most people are either not using AI at all, or pasting things into it that they would never email to a stranger.

Both are costly. The first leaves real time and money on the table. The second hands client files, family details and business plans to services whose terms most people have never read.

We work with these tools every day, and we know them in detail: the models, the plans, the settings, and the small print about what is stored, for how long, and whether it is used to train future models. That is what lets us put AI to work for you properly: the right tool for the job, set up so that what should stay private does.

We are independent, so the recommendation is about what suits you, including when the honest answer is that you do not need it.

02What we do

Bringing AI into your life or business

  • Advice: a straight assessment of where AI would genuinely save you time or money, and where it would not
  • Choosing the tools: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot or Apple Intelligence, on the plan that fits how you work and what you need to protect
  • Setting it up properly: business accounts, two-factor sign-in, history and sharing settings, and training on your data switched off wherever it should be
  • Private AI on your own Mac: models that run entirely on the machine, for material that should never leave the building
  • Connecting it to your work: email, documents, calendars and files, with each connection given only the access it needs
  • Teaching: one-to-one or for your team: how to get good results, and what never to paste into a chat window
  • An AI policy for your business: short and usable, setting out which tools staff may use and with what information
  • Reviewing what is already in use: including personal accounts that staff may be using for work without anyone knowing

03Your data

Strict privacy is the starting point, not an extra

Before any AI tool touches your information, we establish exactly where that information will go.

Many personal AI plans, including some paid ones, can use your conversations to improve their models unless a setting is changed. Business plans from the major providers generally do not, and come with the data processing terms a UK business needs. We check the current terms for every tool we recommend, because they change.

Where the material is sensitive, such as client records, legal or medical matters and family finances, we keep it off outside services altogether, using AI that runs on your own Mac, or Apple Intelligence, which handles what it can on the device itself.

For a business this is also a legal matter. Personal data put into an AI tool is still covered by UK GDPR, and we set things up so that you can say where it went and why. It sits alongside our wider digital privacy and security work.

04How it works

How we bring AI in

  1. 01

    A conversation

How you work or run your home, where the time goes, and what information is involved.

  2. 02

    A recommendation

Which tools are worth it, on which plans, and what stays private, in writing, before anything is bought.

  3. 03

    Set up properly

Accounts, settings and connections configured with privacy first, on the devices you already use.

  4. 04

    Taught and kept current

One-to-one or team training, and a review as the tools and their terms change.

05Questions

Common questions about AI and privacy

Is it safe to put client or family information into ChatGPT?

It depends on the plan and the settings, and on a personal account the honest answer is usually no. A personal account may keep your conversations and use them to improve the model. A business plan, set up correctly, generally does not, and truly sensitive material is better handled by AI that runs on your own machine. We will tell you which applies to you.

Do AI tools use my data to train their models?

Personal plans often can unless you switch it off, and that includes some paid plans. Business and enterprise plans from the major providers generally exclude your data from training by default. The settings are easy to miss and the terms change, so we check them for every tool we set up.

Can AI run privately, without sending anything to the internet?

Yes. Modern Macs are powerful enough to run capable AI models entirely on the machine, so documents and conversations never leave it. It suits confidential work well. We set it up and show you what it can and cannot do compared with the large online services.

Which should we use: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot?

It depends on what you do, which devices and software you already use, and what you need to protect. A business that runs on Microsoft 365 may be best served by Copilot; others are better suited to ChatGPT or Claude, and a household on Apple devices may need little beyond Apple Intelligence. We recommend what suits you.

Does my business need an AI policy?

If anyone on your team uses AI for work, yes, and they very likely already do. A short, practical policy saying which tools are approved and what information must never go into them protects your clients and your business. We write it with you and set the tools up to match.

Is Apple Intelligence private?

It is one of the more private options. Apple runs as much as it can on the device itself and sends larger requests to its Private Cloud Compute servers, which Apple says do not store your data. Some optional features pass requests to outside services, and we will show you where those settings are.

What about AI scams: cloned voices and fake emails?

They are real and increasingly convincing. The defence is mostly human: a family or office code word for urgent requests, and a rule that any change to payment details is confirmed by calling a number you already have. We set these up and walk everyone through them.
